Highwood Current Swim Club (CRNT)

Code of Conduct Policy

Parents are to sign this document on behalf of their swimmer during the registration process:

Athletes, parents and coaches must have a basic understanding of acceptable cooperative behavior in order to work as a cohesive unit and for all parties involved to have a positive experience.

Please follow these guidelines and remember to treat everyone with the respect you would like to be treated with yourself.

All Members:

Members have a responsibility to:

1. Comply with all Highwood Current Bylaws, Policies and Procedures

2. Be aware and responsible for applicable club fees and meet fees and ensure their family account is kept up to date.

3. Demonstrate respect to individuals regardless of body type, physical characteristics, athletic ability, age, ancestry, colour, race, citizenship, ethnic origin, place of origin, creed, disability, family status, marital status, gender identity, gender expression, sex, and sexual, orientation

4. Focusing comments or criticism appropriately and avoiding public criticism of athletes, coaches, officials, organizers, volunteers, employees, or members

5. Consistently demonstrating the spirit of sportsmanship, sport leadership, and ethical conduct

6. Acting, when appropriate, to correct or prevent practices that are unjustly discriminatory

7. Consistently treating individuals fairly and reasonably

8. Ensuring adherence to the rules of the sport and the spirit of those rules

9. Refrain from any behaviour that constitutes abuse. Abuse refers to violence, mistreatment or neglect one may experience while in the care of someone they depend on or trust.

10. Refrain from any behaviour that constitutes harassment, where harassment is defined as comment or conduct directed towards an individual or group, which is offensive, abusive,racist, sexist, degrading, or malicious. This includes any behaviour that could be defined as sexual harassment.

11. Refrain from any behavior that constitutes bullying, including cyberbullying

 

For Swimmers

1. I will show respect to my teammates, competitors, coaches, parents, lifeguards, officials, and facility property.

2. I will behave in such a manner that reflects positively on my team.

3. I will play fair and always display good sportsmanship, in and out of the pool.

4. I will be punctual for all practices and meets and will have all the clothing and equipment required.

5. When at competitions, I will wear my team uniform and conduct myself with dignity.

6. I will not use offensive or disrespectful language or gestures, push or shove anyone into the water, interfere with another swimmer’s movements in the water, or intentionally slow a swimmer’s progress.

If swimmers fail to abide by our Code of Conduct, can be dealt with by the Coaches as needed on the pool deck. The Highwood Current Swim Club Discipline Policy will form the basis for management of any significant breach of the Code of Conduct.

• Time out

• Removal from practice or withdrawal from a meet.

• Dismissal from the swim club for a period, for the season, or for life.

 

For Parents

1. I will show respect to the coaching staff, pool staff, officials, athletes or other parents.

2. I will leave the coaching to the coaching staff and abide by their disciplinary actions.

3. If I have questions or concerns, I will bring this to the Coaching staff calmly at a time that will not disrupt or interrupt the practice or competition.

4. Any concerns with coaches or club operations that is not resolved by point 3 above must be in writing and emailed to the board at highwoodcurrent.board@gmail.com

5. I will always be positive and encouraging to my child and all swimmers.

6. I will support my swimmer by doing my best to ensure that my swimmer(s) arrive on time for practice and have all required equipment.

7. I will not go on the pool deck unless requested by a member of the Coaching staff.

Any family member that does not follow the Code of Conduct as set forth here can result in disciplinary actions at the discretion of the coach and/or Board. The Highwood Current Swim Club Discipline Policy will form the basis for management of any significant breach of the Code of Conduct.
